Welcome to Roam! No, not like Rome the ancient civilization. Roam is the half of my blog that encompasses our trips, especially to parks around the country. Here is a roadmap:
National Parks – Visiting the 63 National Parks.
National Park Sites – Visiting the 433 National Park Sites.
State Parks – Visiting the 175 State Parks in Florida (our home state) and exceptional parks in other states.
Florida Springs – Visiting every natural springs that you can swim in.
Other Public Land – National Forests, State Forests, Wildlife Management Areas, etc.
Hunting – A place to share hunting stories.
Fishing – A place to share fishing stories.
My goal with this side of the blog is to share our experiences exploring the parks to inspire you and help you to plan your own trips. I believe that Americans all owe it to themselves to visit and explore our preserved natural beauty and cultural history.
We like to play an active role in the landscape, and in this blog you will read about the best places to hike, swim, and explore.
My goal is to catalogue my family’s experience visiting each of the 433 National Park Sites and the 175 State Parks in Florida (our home state!). There are also 6,792 State Park units in the US. While we will visit exceptional state parks in other states as our schedule permits, our focus for now is on the NPS sites and Florida parks.
While there are over 1,000 springs in Florida, not all of these are public and many are not large enough to swim in. My family has a goal to visit every major spring in Florida, and to share the magic we experience at each one. There are currently 58 on our list, which we expect to grow.
Averaging one park per week, it will take us 12.8 years to visit and blog about each park. My goal is to share inspiration and actionable guides to help you plan your own trips and get out in nature. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
